General Vehicle Wrap & Protection Questions

Scheduling, service area, design help and how quotes work. Start here if you're new to wraps, clear bra or ceramic coating.

Where are you located and what areas do you serve?

Our shop is at 7633 Carroll Rd, San Diego, CA 92121. We're a full-service mobile wrapping company, so we work with drivers and businesses across San Diego County and Southern California. Contact us to confirm availability for your location.

Do you come to me, or do I bring my vehicle to the shop?

Both. We offer mobile service for many jobs, and some work, like full color-change wraps, full-body paint protection film and ceramic coating, is best done in a controlled shop environment where dust and temperature are managed. We'll recommend the right option when we quote your project.

What are your business hours?

We're open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed Sundays and major holidays. Call (858) 547-9727 or (619) 888-6062, or email hello@sundiegowraps.net.

How do I get a price quote?

Use one of our free online estimate forms: Vinyl Wrap Estimate, Commercial Wraps Estimate or Paint Protection Estimate. Tell us your vehicle's year, make and model, the coverage you want and your finish, and we'll send back a quote.

Why can't you list one flat price for every car?

Every vehicle is different. Price depends on vehicle size and body complexity (bumpers, mirrors, deep recesses), how much coverage you want, the film type and finish, any custom design or printing, and the current condition of the paint. A quick estimate form gives you an accurate number instead of a guess.

Do you help with graphic design?

Yes. Sun Diego Wraps has an in-house graphic designer who can turn a rough idea, sketch or logo into print-ready wrap artwork. Email graphics@sundiegowraps.net or request a design consultation on any estimate form.

Can I see examples of your work?

Absolutely. Browse our gallery and featured projects for color-change wraps, commercial graphics and paint protection installs on everything from compacts to exotics.

How long will my vehicle be at the shop?

It depends on the service. Small jobs like decals, trim and partial wraps can often be done the same day. Full wraps, full-body PPF and multi-stage ceramic coating usually take several days to allow for prep, installation and curing. We'll give you a timeline with your quote.

Vinyl Wrap FAQs

Color changes, custom graphics and finishes. Everything you want to know before you wrap your car, truck or SUV.

Is a vinyl wrap cheaper than a paint job?

In most cases a quality wrap costs less than a comparable high-end paint job, and it's reversible. You can change the color, protect the original paint underneath, and remove it later without hurting resale value. Get an exact number with our vinyl wrap estimate.

How long does a car wrap last?

A professionally installed wrap typically lasts several years. Lifespan depends on the film, the finish and how much direct sun the vehicle gets. Garage parking, regular hand washing and avoiding harsh chemicals help a wrap last longer in the Southern California sun.

Will a vinyl wrap damage my factory paint?

No. Applied to healthy factory paint and removed correctly, a wrap actually protects the paint underneath from light scratches, UV and road grime. Repainted panels, or paint that is already chipped or peeling, carry more risk, so we inspect the surface before every install.

What wrap colors and finishes can I choose?

Hundreds. We install matte, gloss, satin, chrome, metallic, brushed, holographic and fluorescent finishes, plus fully custom printed graphics. Want both style and chip protection? Look at color paint protection film.

Can I wrap just part of my vehicle?

Yes. Popular options include roof wraps, hood wraps, mirror caps, chrome delete, trim and accessories, stripes and decals, and single panels with a logo or graphics. Partial wraps are a budget-friendly way to change the look.

How do I wash a wrapped car?

Hand wash with a pH-neutral car soap and a soft microfiber mitt, then rinse and dry. Avoid automatic brush car washes, abrasive polishes and waxes that aren't made for vinyl. Most wraps need nothing more than a wipe-down, which also means less water use.

Can a wrap be removed later?

Yes, and that's one of the biggest advantages over paint. Removing a wrap professionally with controlled heat leaves the original paint intact, which helps when it's time to sell or lease-return the vehicle.

Commercial & Fleet Wrap FAQs

Turn vans, trucks, trailers and food trucks into rolling billboards. Here's what businesses ask most.

Are vehicle wraps a good investment for advertising?

A wrapped work vehicle advertises your business every day, everywhere it drives or parks, with no monthly ad spend once it's installed. For local service businesses in San Diego, a clean, readable fleet graphic is one of the most cost-effective ways to build name recognition.

What types of commercial vehicles do you wrap?

Cars, cargo vans, pickup trucks, box trucks, big rigs, buses, RVs, boats, trailers and food trucks. We also handle multi-vehicle fleet programs so every vehicle matches your brand.

How is commercial wrap installation priced?

Commercial installation is quoted at $65 to $85 per hour, plus printed material based on the square footage of the graphics. Total cost depends on vehicle size, full versus partial coverage and design time. Call (858) 547-9727 or use the commercial wraps estimate form.

Should I choose a full wrap, partial wrap or decals?

Full wraps deliver maximum visibility and a completely branded look. Partial wraps use your vehicle's existing paint color as part of the design for a lower price. Cut vinyl decals (logo, phone number, website) are the most economical way to get your name on the road.

What file format do you need for my logo and artwork?

A vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) gives the sharpest print at vehicle scale. High-resolution images can work for some designs. Not sure what you have? Send it anyway and our in-house designer will help you get a print-ready file.

Can you wrap an entire fleet so every vehicle matches?

Yes. We scale designs across different makes and models so your branding stays consistent from the smallest car to the largest truck, and we can schedule installs to keep your vehicles on the road.

Paint Protection Film (Clear Bra) FAQs

Invisible, self-healing protection against rock chips and road debris. Here's how clear bra works.

What is paint protection film (clear bra)?

Paint protection film, often called clear bra, is a nearly invisible urethane film applied over your paint. It absorbs impact from rock chips, sand, bugs and road debris so your factory paint underneath stays in showroom condition.

Is paint protection film worth it?

If you drive the freeway, own a new or high-value vehicle, or plan to keep or resell your car, it usually is. Repainting a chipped bumper or hood costs money and can never quite match factory paint. PPF prevents that damage in the first place and helps protect resale value.

Does PPF really self-heal?

Yes. Our films are self-healing: light swirls and fine scratches in the top coat disappear with heat from the sun or warm water. Deep gouges that cut through the film won't heal, but the paint underneath stays protected.

What parts of the car should I protect?

The most chip-prone areas: front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, headlights, door edges and door cups, rocker panels and behind the wheels. We can also cover the entire vehicle with custom, computer-cut kits.

Is there a warranty on paint protection film?

Yes. Our paint protection film comes with a lifetime warranty. Ask for the specific terms when you request your PPF estimate.

Can PPF go on a matte or satin finish?

Yes. Our matte paint protection film is a satin-finish version of the same proven urethane. It protects factory matte paint and matte wraps without adding unwanted gloss.

Can I wax or ceramic coat over paint protection film?

Yes. Many owners add ceramic coating on top of PPF for extra gloss, easier cleaning and water beading. Avoid abrasive compounds and waxes with harsh solvents on the film.

Color Paint Protection Film FAQs

The look of a color-change wrap with the toughness of paint protection film.

What is color paint protection film?

Color PPF is a polyurethane protection film made in solid, metallic and matte colors. It changes your vehicle's color like a wrap while adding the impact, chemical and UV protection of clear paint protection film.

What's the difference between color PPF and a vinyl wrap?

A vinyl wrap is mainly cosmetic and costs less. Color PPF is a thicker urethane film that resists rock chips, scratches and stains and keeps the self-healing properties of clear PPF. If you want a new color and real protection in one product, color PPF is the upgrade.

Does color PPF self-heal like clear PPF?

Yes. Light scratches and swirl marks in the film's top coat disappear with heat exposure, so the finish stays smooth and fresh.

Is color PPF removable?

Yes. Like a wrap, it can be professionally removed to reveal the protected original paint underneath, so you keep your options open without committing to a permanent respray.

Is color PPF worth the higher price?

If you want a color change on a new, leased or high-value vehicle and also want to avoid chips and body-shop visits, it often pays for itself in protected paint and resale value. If looks alone are the goal on a budget, a vinyl wrap may be the better fit.

Ceramic Coating FAQs

Deep gloss, easy cleaning and long-term protection without constant waxing.

What is ceramic coating?

Ceramic (nano-ceramic) coating is a liquid glass coating applied in layers that bond to your vehicle's surface and harden as they cure. Standard clear coat rates around 2H to 4H in hardness. A cured ceramic coating reaches 9H or better, adding a hard, glossy protective layer.

How long does ceramic coating last?

A professionally applied coating lasts years, not weeks like wax. Actual lifespan depends on the product, how many layers are applied, and how the vehicle is washed and stored.

Is ceramic coating better than wax?

For long-term protection, yes. Wax sits on top of the paint and wears off in weeks. Ceramic coating bonds to the surface and resists UV, oxidation, chemical stains and contaminants far longer, so you can skip the wash-wax-repeat cycle.

Do I still need to wash a ceramic coated car?

Yes, but it's much easier. The coating is hydrophobic, so water beads up and rolls off and takes dirt with it. Regular gentle hand washes keep it performing, and there's no more waxing.

Does ceramic coating prevent rock chips and scratches?

It improves resistance to light marring, but it isn't impact protection. For rock chips, pair it with paint protection film on high-impact areas, then coat the whole car for gloss and easy care.

Can ceramic coating go over a wrap or PPF?

Yes. We can apply ceramic coating over clear PPF, color PPF and many vinyl wraps for added gloss, stain resistance and easier maintenance.
